Oil and gas forum kicks off in Ashgabat

The International Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan- 2013” and the 18th International Conference “International Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan: Potential, Achievements, Priorities” started at the Ashgabat Exhibition Center. The forum has been organized by the Ministry of Oil and Gas and Mineral Resources and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.

The main purpose of the oil and gas forum is to expose the international business community to the energy potential of Turkmenistan and prospects for international cooperation.

The enterprises of the fuel and energy sector of Turkmenistan as well as some 100 companies from over 20 countries have set up their stands in the halls of the Exhibition Center. Of them, 30 companies participate in the exhibition for the first time.

Among the exhibitors are representatives of the oil companies from Russia, China, USA, UK, Germany, Malaysia, UAE, France, Italy, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, etc.

The exhibition stands feature products and services in the areas such as exploration, production, refining, storage and transportation of hydrocarbons, deep drilling, offshore projects implementation, modernization of existing and construction of new pipelines, increasing oil and gas processing capacity, as well as advanced technologies and latest equipment from leading manufacturers.

In the course of three days, representatives of foreign companies will have the opportunity to present their products and potential, and significantly expand business contacts and partnerships in the Turkmen energy market. Among them are the partners of Turkmenistan such as Petronas Charigali (Malaysia), Dragon Oil (UAE), CNPC (China), Exxon Mobil (USA), RWE (Germany), Schlumberger (France), International Group of Companies Itera (Russia), Weatherford (Switzerland), Yarav (Belarus), public corporation Sumskoy Scientific and Production Association named after Frunze (Ukraine) and others.

The 18th conference “International Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan: Potential, Achievements, Priorities” started in the afternoon. This high-level forum, which traditionally coincides with the international exhibition, is being attended by some 700 delegates from over 40 countries – USA, Europe, Asia and the CIS. Among them are oil and gas industry experts, representatives of government agencies, manufacturing plants, academia, etc.

On the first day, the conference worked in the plenary and breakout sessions on topics such as advances and trends in the oil and gas industry, and the oil and gas and petrochemical industry of Turkmenistan.

Several reports touched on the topic of diversification of supplies of Turkmen hydrocarbons to international markets.

The international forum will continue tomorrow.
