Streets of Ashgabat to undergo modernization

Streets of Ashgabat will be modernized with the view of further developing the road infrastructure and improving the architectural and urban appearance of the capital city. As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to this effect.

According to the document, the administration of the city of Ashgabat will conclude a contract with Turkish company Nata Inşaat Turizm Taşymajylyk Tijaret we Sanaýi A.Ş. for modernization of the capital's streets with a total length of 59.14 km.

The contract provides for design and construction of 18 bridges, 39 underground and 15 elevated pedestrian crossings, including landscaping of adjacent areas, as well as dismantling of the existing and construction of new networks in the streets.

According to the decree, construction works should start in November 2013, and the new road infrastructure should be put into operation in December 2016.
