OSCE International Conference on energy security concludes in Ashgabat

The high-level international conference “Energy Security and Sustainable Development in the OSCE Region” has finished in Ashgabat.

The forum participants called for the intensification of cooperation in the field of global energy security, stressing the coordinating role of the OSCE in joint decision-making on these issues.

The conference discussed conditions for development of the energy sector, including strengthening of regional cooperation, as well as issues related to security of energy transportation and reliability of energy infrastructure.

The conference participants heard the reports covering energy diplomacy, integration and legal relations, functioning of the global energy system, interaction of producer countries, transit countries and consumers of energy resources, development of international cooperation in the field of processing of energy resources, technology transfer and use of alternative energy sources.

A number of meetings were held as part of the conference, including the quadrilateral meeting of the delegations of Ukraine, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

According to the outcome document, the high-level international conference in Ashgabat, effective regional energy cooperation, including implementation of policies for sustainable energy development, are of great importance for the development of a robust and reliable energy sector and promoting sustainable economic growth.
