Turkmen singer Lachin Mammedova to participate in "Five Stars. Intervision" contest

Famous Turkmen singer Lachin Mammedova will participate in the international contest of young pop singers from CIS and Baltic states titled "Five Stars. Intervision". The contest will start in the city of Sochi on August 28.

Eleven contestants have already arrived in the resort-city to prepare for the contest. Young artists will have to go through 3 days of competition and take part in a gala concert. The contest winner will be picked by TV viewers via live sms voting. The next year contest will be held in a country whose singer wins in Sochi.

Lachin Mammedova was born to the family of a musician in the city of Balkanabat on November 9, 1980. Her father played virtually all folk musical instruments, including the violin and guitar. Her grandfather was famous folk singer. Lachin graduated from a music school, the guitar class. She continued musical education in the Ashgabat music school under the Turkmen National Conservatoire, the vocal department.

As a secondary school pupil, Lachin won the regional contest titled "New Names". At the age of 20 the singer became very popular and got the title of honorary artist of Turkmenistan. Lachin has been awarded the prize of the Turkmen President Prize for three times for professionalism and outstanding artistry as the winner of the state contest among Turkmen artists called "Golden Age of Turkmens".

The young singer's boasts of content-rich songs that combine modern rhythms and ancient melodies and old traditions of musical culture of Turkmens. Famous Turkmen composers make mmusic for her. Lachin also composes music and writes texts. The singer helps orphan schoolchildren and gives charity concerts.
