Turkmenistan to pardon more than 900 convicts ahead of Victory Day

A decision to hold scheduled pardoning of convicts on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of Victory Day was adopted at an expanded government meeting, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat.

More than 900 convicts, including foreign nationals, will be freed within the framework of the amnesty, minister of national security of Turkmenistan Charymurad Amanov said.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has instructed heads of the law enforcing agencies to ensure timely and proper organization of the amnesty. "Former convicts should meet this great holiday with dignity in the circle of their families," the head of state said.
