Amangul Durdieva from Balkanabat wins absolute title in Anglo-American draughts

Famous 20 year old Turkmen draughts player Amangul Durdieva has become an absolute world champion in Anglo-American draughts, adding this honorary title to the title of world champion in classic Anglo-American draughts won last year.

As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, the second-year student of the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute Amangul Durdieva defeated well-known 31 year old Irish sportsmen Patricia Breen with drawing of openings. In this kind of game, in contrast to classic draughts, a computer makes the first three moves. The decisive victory was achieved in Ireland, Breen’s birthplace. She had been holding the title in this kind of checkers since 1993.

The rivals must have played 20 sets in the match, in which Particia Breen would have maintained the title if the players drew. However, with 8 wins, 6 draws and 2 defeats Amangul Durdieva won the world champion title with a score 22:10.
