Presidents of FIFA and AFC inaugurate football headquarters in Turkmen capital

As was already reported, the President of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), Joseph Blatter, arrived in Ashgabat yesterday. The delegation also includes the president of the Asian Football Confederation, Mohammed Bin Hammam, from Qatar.

As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, on the first day of the visit Joseph Blatter and Mohammed Bin Hammam participated in the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Football Association of Turkmenistan situated in one of the luxury houses in the southern part of the capital.

The FIFA President discussed issues related to development of football in the country with vice-prime minister Hydyr Saparliyev who is in charge of sports in the Turkmen government. "I am very pleased that in Turkmenistan the national football association, the state sport organization and the government enjoy partnership relations," Blatter said.

Today, presidents of FIFA and AFC continue talks in the State Sports and Tourism Committee of Turkmenistan. Later in the day, Joseph Blatter and Mohammed Bin Hammam will visit Dagdan stadium and Olymp sport school where they will hand over to young footballers new balls on behalf of FIFA. A visit to the Akhalteke equestrian will wrap up the programme of visit.
