Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov attends inauguration of National Cultural Center

The festive parade of architectural premieres kicked off in the Turkmen capital today ahead of the State Flag Day of Turkmenistan. This morning, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov attended the inauguration ceremony of the National Cultural Center built by Turkish company Gap Inshaat in the south of Ashgabat.

Members of the Turkmen government, deputies of the national parliament, heads and representatives of the ministries and establishments, public organizations forming the nationwide movement Galkynysh, mass media, diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan and students also attended the official ceremony.

The architectural complex incorporates the National Library, the Museum of the first president of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov, and the Palace of Music. A well proportioned colonnade consisting of 104 octagonal columns with gilded capitals has harmoniously fitted in the general ensemble. The total cost of the project is US $ 75 million.

As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov first examined the National library. The head of state was accompanied by the president of Gap Inshaat, Ahmet Chalyk. The new Turkmen leader visited a reading room, the biggest room in the complex, on the ground floor of a 7-storey facility.

Apart from numerous reading rooms, there are two conference rooms for 150 and 40 people, audio-video stock, internet room, computer center, rooms for research fellows and personnel and book workshops. Underground levels with all necessary equipment have accommodated book depositories. The library has the capacity of 5 million books. It can receive 1100 readers at a time. As the president said, it is planned to build Ruhnama University near the National Cultural Center in the near future. The university students and teachers will become the library's frequent visitors. The new library has also every condition for research work, including old manuscripts.

Then, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov visited the Museum of the first president of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov, where he signed three books of honorable guests - for the National Library, Museum and Palace of Music.

In one of the concert halls of the Palace of Music the president congratulated the participants and guests of the ceremony on the commissioning of the National Cultural Center. It should be noted that along with two multipurpose halls for 900 and 200 visitors there are also halls for rehearsals and reception of guests in the Palace.

Later, a video film about the National Cultural Center was demonstrated to the participants and guests of the ceremony. A concert prepared by masters of arts of Turkmenistan was performed after the demonstration.

In the evening, the opening of the National Cultural Center will be marked by a gala concert in the square in front of the architectural complex which will be followed by firework for residents and guests of Ashgabat.
