FRENCH BOUYGUES TO BUILD ICE PALACE AND CABLE CAR IN TURKMENISTAN

French company Bouygues Batiman Internacional will build a palace of ice and a cable car in Turkmenistan. President Saparmurat Niyazov signed a relevant decree.

As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, Bouygues Batiman Internacional will sign two contracts with the Ministry of power engineering and industry of the republic. The first contract provides for the construction of an Ice Palace for 1,000 people, with an area of 7750 sq. meters and the accomplishment of an adjoining 13,500 sq. meters territory at a total cost of $22 mln. The construction will begin this November and be completed in February 2006.

Another contract worth $21 mln envisages the construction of a 4 km long cable car with a restaurant, a cafй, shops, a panorama view and fountains with a total area of 2,000 sq. meters, along with the accomplishment of an adjoining territory of 13,000 sq. meters. The construction is due to start this November and to be commissioned in October 2006.

The Ice Palace with the cable car will stand in the southern part of Ashgabat, in the foothills of the Kopetdag mountains. Both projects will be financed from the currency reserves of Turkmenistan.
