Viktor Kalujni thinks Ashkhabad summit was s stimulus to move forward

Victor Kalujni, the special Envoy of the Russian president, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, considers that the Ashkhabad summit took place this April and dedicated to the Caspian problems has carried out its tasks allowing the heads of the Caspian states to “express” and “enjoy the viewpoints of the heads of other states”.

According to the diplomat the summit in the Turkmen capital allowed the states to move forward. In his interview to Iran.ru online edition, the Russian envoy said that the summit initially was not aimed at settling the existing problems and did not envisaged solution of the status of the Caspian Sea. Therefore, it could not be said that the summit was failed.

“I think that only opposition forces who benefits from permanent escalation in the Caspian Sea region speak about failure of Ashkhabad summit.” The Russian Envoy also considers that Ashkhabad Summit made another important step while making decision on the next meeting of the Caspian Sea states.
