Turkmenistan invited Russia to take part in construction of TransAfghan gas main

Ashkhabad’s correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru informs that during a telephone conversation hled between presidents of Turkmenistan and Russia Saparmurat Niyazov and Vladimir Putin discussed further development of bilateral partnership on the basis of the long-term treaty on friendship and cooperation, signed recently in Turkmen capital.

According to the press-service of the Turkmen president, in the near future Vladimir Putin has offered holding session of the joint Russian - Turkmen intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. He also informed the Turkmen leader on tripartite agreements in sphere of transportation of the Russian gas, achieved between Russia, Germany and Ukraine.
Saparmurat Niyazov, in his turn, informed about readiness of Turkmenistan, to sell annually 50 billion cubic meters of gas Russia and from Russia to the European states along with deliveries of 30 billion cubic metre of gas to Pakistan. The president of Turkmenistan has invited the Russian side to take part in construction of a gas main Turkmenistan - Afganistan-Pakistan. Leaders of two countries have agreed to actively cooperate in oil and gas fields.
