Turkmenistan solemnly celebrates 70th anniversary of Victory

Turkmenistan has solemnly celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the War of 1941-1945. War veterans, who fought on the fronts of the most brutal war in human history, showing unprecedented courage and heroism, were honored in all the regions of the country.

The main events of the day were held at the Memorial Complex “Halk Hakydasy” (people's memory), including a flower laying ceremony attended by the Speaker of the Mejlis (Parliament), Vice Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, leaders of the Ashgabat city administration, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, public associations, members of Parliament, war veterans, elders, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, etc.

A wreath of flowers on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was laid at the foot of the monument “Baky Söhrat” (eternal glory).

Celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory were held in all the regions of Turkmenistan. Dwellers of cities and villages of the country paid tribute to the defenders of their homeland by laying bouquets of flowers at the monument erected in honor of national heroes who died a hero's death in the war of 1941-1945.
