Turkmenistan establishes International University of Humanities and Development

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on establishment of the International University of Humanities and Development to ensure training of qualified specialists in line with the standards of the international education system.

The new university will be located in Ashgabat. The education process will begin in the 2014-2015 academic year.

The university will admit about 300 students. They will be taught on a paid basis in 14 specialties in English language. In this regard, the university will offer a one-year language course.

The new university will have five faculties, 1 branch and 13 departments. Work is currently underway to solve organizational issues, develop curricula and invite lecturers from abroad.

By a special resolution, the head of state approved the composition of the International University of Humanities and Development and ordered that the university should start its activities on 1 June 2014.

According to the President of Turkmenistan, the new university will help improve quality of foreign language teaching in the country. In this regard, the head of state instructed relevant officials to establish several schools with teaching in English, German and French languages.
