Delegation of Turkmenistan to attend 68th session of UN General Assembly

A delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov will attend the general debate of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports quoting the press service of the head of state, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to this effect at a video-conference meeting.

The President of Turkmenistan instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly, stressing the strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN and Turkmenistan's readiness to continue to fully contribute to the intensification of a fruitful international dialogue in order to develop an effective partnership at the regional and global level.

The delegation of Turkmenistan will also participate in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meeting to discuss a proposal to hold a conference of NAM member states in Ashgabat in 2015 with the view of strengthening relations in the interests of peace, security and human development.

The President of Turkmenistan also touched on the issue of the Turkmen delegation’s participation in the High Level Meeting titled “Mobility and Interconnectedness – Driving Forces of Development Programme beyond 2015”, noting that this event will help sharing of experiences in development of transit transport systems and implementation of major international and regional projects.
