President of Turkmenistan reshuffles law enforcement officials

Chairing an enlarged meeting of the National Security Council, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made reshuffles in the law enforcement bodies.

The head of state dismissed Prosecutor General Yaranmyrad Yazmyradov for weakening of control over the work of public prosecutor’s offices of Turkmenistan; Prosecutor of Ashgabat Movlamberdy Garaev for serious shortcomings in his work and abuse of public office for private gain; Deputy Minister of National Security in charge of the city of Ashgabat Baymyrad Altyev for serious shortcomings in his work.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Durdyev has been reprimanded for unsatisfactory performance of duties and shortcomings in his work. He has been warned that he will be relieved of his post of he fails to correct shortcomings as soon as possible.

The head of state appointed Amanmyrad Khallyev Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan and relieved him from the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court.

Begench Charyev, who previously worked as Minister of Justice, has been appointed Chairman of the Supreme Court. Deputy Ministry of Justice Begmyrat Muhammedov has been appointed new Minister of Justice.

Summing up the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that unfortunately there some law enforcement officers who work irresponsibly and lose credibility. However, everyone will inevitably be held accountable for their actions.
