Turkmenistan launches website on Akhal-Teke horses

Turkmenistan has launched a website named “Heavenly Akhal-Teke Horses” (www.ahalteke.gov.tm) that is dedicated to the famous breed of Turkmen horses. The new online resource has been developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan jointly with the State News Service and the State Association "Turkmenatlary" ("Turkmen Horses").

The website features a variety of information about the history of horse breeding in Turkmenistan, as well as a number of articles, videos and photographs about the "heavenly" horses. The website also offers on-line information about the activities held in the country ahead of the upcoming national holiday - Day of Turkmen Horse – in late April.

The website comes in three languages - Turkmen, English and Russian to attract a wide range of users. The home page features books by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Turkmen horse, downloadable in three languages. Visitors can also download the recent issues of “Heavenly Akhal-Teke Horses” magazine released by “Turkmenatlary".

Akhal-Teke is the oldest horse breed that was born in the territory of modern Turkmenistan about 3500 years BC.
