Turkmen President pardons prisoners in honor of neutrality

Chairing an enlarged government meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the decree “On pardoning of prisoners on the occasion of the national holiday of Turkmenistan - Neutrality Day.”

As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports referring to the press service of the head of state, the pardoned prisoners will be freed from serving their primary sentences as well as additional penalty in the form of compulsory residing in a particular locality.

According to the presidential decree, the act of pardoning is conducted in accordance with the principles of forgiveness and humanism with the view of further strengthening the unity and cohesion of the Turkmen society and every family and in honor of the national holiday of Turkmenistan - Neutrality Day.

Turkmenistan pardons prisoners several times a year in honor of national holidays. The last act of pardoning was held in October this year in honor of independence of Turkmenistan.
