Turkmen parliament passes new laws

The Mejlis of Turkmenistan convened today for the fourteenth session of the fourth convocation. The session was also attended by the heads of relevant ministries and departments, including law enforcement agencies and media representatives.

Members of the Mejlis unanimously approved and passed the laws of Turkmenistan “On Election of Members of People's Councils and Gengeshes”, “On State Pension Insurance”, “On Shared Construction of Apartment Houses and Other Real Estate”, “On Statistics", "On Protected Natural Areas”, “On Measures Related to Treatment of Persons Suffering from Alcoholism, Drug Addiction or Dependence on Psychoactive Drugs”, “On Road Traffic Safety” and “On Migration.”

In addition, amendments were introduced to the Criminal Procedure Code, the laws “On Military Duty and Military Service”, “On the Status and Social Protection of Servicemen and Their Families”, “On the State Service of Turkmenistan on Combating Drugs”, “On Appraisal Activities” and other legislative acts of Turkmenistan.

Members of Turkmen parliament also passed the resolution “On Accession to the Protocol on Explosive Remnants of War of 28 November 2003 to the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects".
