President of Turkmenistan leaves for Turkey on official visit

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will leave for Turkey on his first official visit abroad following his reelection as President of Turkmenistan. According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), this is “evidence of the importance attached by the sides to development of traditionally friendly intergovernmental partnership.”

It is expected that the agenda of bilateral talks scheduled for February 29 will include a wide range of issues relating to the further intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation in priority areas. The talks are expected to result in the signing of a number of important bilateral documents.

As part of the visit, the President of Turkmenistan will also travel to Istanbul to attend an exhibition of goods made in Turkmenistan, as well as the regular Turkmen-Turkish business forum that will be opened by the two heads of state. In addition, “Turkmenistan” park with a monument to famous Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli will be inaugurated in Ankara.

“One of the vectors of the foreign policy of neutral Turkmenistan aimed at intensifying the constructive international cooperation in the interest of general welfare and prosperity is to develop relations with countries who have common historical and cultural roots with our country. In this context, the great importance is attached to the traditional interaction with the Turkish Republic that was originally based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and trust,” the TDH said.
