Turkmenistan’s Interagency Commission on Caspian Sea is planning o speed up negotiations with neighboring countries in the Caspian region. This was stated by Vice Premier and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov at a regular government meeting.
According to him, the commission will convene for its next meeting in few days. The meeting will focus on promoting and implementing the international initiatives on the Caspian Sea put forward by the Turkmen leader. It was also noted that a number of international events will be held, including an environmental forum on the Caspian Sea.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan has always spoken in favor of a constructive dialogue in the name of peace and harmony and enhancing effective cooperation in the Caspian Basin, both in bilateral and multilateral formats.
“Our country will continue to actively participate in finding optimal solutions to issues related to the legal status of the Caspian Sea to ensure peace and security in the region, expanding the fruitful cooperation and strengthening good neighborly relations, mutual understanding and trust between the peoples of the Caspian countries, who share centuries-old historical and cultural ties, he said.
