Turkmenistan has successfully completed sowing of winter crops, the State News Agency TDH reported. In all, 860 hectares of fields were sown throughout the country. Next year, Turkmenistan plans to gather 1.6 million tons of food grain, including 450 thousand tons in Akhal province, 380 thousand tons in Mary province, 350 thousand tons in Lebap province, 300 thousand tons in Dashoguz province and 120 thousand tons in Balkan province.

The sowing campaign involved 650 “John Deere”, “Case” and “Belarus-1221” tractors, more than 380 corn planters, and about two thousand “MTZ-80X” tractors and 120 “MTZ-82.1” tractors.

Fields were sown with high yielding varieties of wheat such as “Sahrai”, “Dzhuvan”, “Batyko”, “Yubileynaya 100”, “Yoloten-1”, “Turkmenbashi-1” and “Bitarap” that proved best in the soil and climatic conditions of Turkmenistan’s regions.

As of now, shoots have already appeared in most of the fields, and farmers are now working to ensure effective care of the brairds, the TDH said.
