Ashgabat residents to get cable TV instead of satellite

According to the President of Turkmenistan, numerous television antennas installed on the roofs and facades of residential buildings have a negative impact on the architectural and urban appearance of the capital city - Ashgabat. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said this at the yesterday's government video-conference meeting.
The President instructed Vice Premier Nazarguly Shagulyev, supervising transport and communications, to “proceed with setting up cable TV in the multi-storey residential buildings and to remove satellite antennas that will be of no use with the introduction of cable broadcasting.” According to the Turkmen leader each of the houses should have no more than two - three satellite antennas.
