Turkmenistan celebrates Independence Day

Turkmenistan marks the 19 anniversary of independence today. A military parade attended by representatives of all branches of troops was held on the main square of Ashgabat, followed by a traditional festive folk procession. Concerts of masters of arts and massive celebrations in the parks will be held this day across the country. The traditional colorful fireworks will follow in the evening.

A concert of popular performers of contemporary and folk songs was held at Ashgabat's Ruhiet palace on the eve of Independence Day. A colorful show was also held at the Olympic Stadium.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a message of congratulations to compatriots. He noted that today the country is ranked "among the most advanced and well-respected countries in the world," and "investing in the development of the regions leads to the prosperous life of every Turkmen citizen, a spiritual revival and rebirth of the nation." The President of Turkmenistan wished fellow citizens good health, longevity, happy life, family happiness, inspiration and success at work.
