Astrakhan shipbuilders contribute to development of Turkmenistan's economy
A ceremony of starting the keel-laying of a giant barge was held in one of the shops of "Red Barricades" shipyard located near Astrakhan. It coincided with the start of shipment of finished products - the marine fixed platform came off the stocks of the shipyard. Both the barge and platform are meant for operations in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. The Governor of Astrakhan region, Alexander Zhilkin, and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation, Halnazar Agahanov, attended the event.
The barge, which is expected to leave the dock of "Red Barricades" in less than one year, has truly unique characteristics. With the length of 160 meters and maximum width of 45 meters, the ship can take more than six thousand tons of cargo on board and carry virtually any large payloads - from huge cranes to complete offshore oil platforms. There have been no such ships in the Caspian Sea so far, let alone the fact that there are few such marine oil barges in the world. A memorial plaque was ceremonially attached to the hull of the new ship showing the date of commencement of works. While this unique barge has yet to pass the entire path from the keel-laying to the launch, the other technological miracle has already received a certificate of conformity and is heading for the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea.
The marine fixed oil production platform LAM-B is designed for oil extraction in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian shelf. Such platform makes it possible to extract oil and gas mixture, purify it of contaminants and separate it to oil and gas. The modules of a build-up construction is literally staffed with special equipment: compressors, separators, diesel generators, pumps, flare set that are integrated into a production chain, which allows you to manage power distribution panels, cables, heaters, system of control equipment and automatic machinery.
The construction does not yet have a completed form at the moment. There are two supporting blocks, connecting frame and four topside modules. For transportation convenience the platform will be shipped to the destination point in parts on special barges. The platform will take the normal contour offshore the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, in the extraction and exploration sector, where Dragon Oil company is operating. The platform final size will then be comparable to the size of a high-rise house. The height of the supporting sides of the platform will be 44 meters with the length of 44 and width of 20.8 meters. The cargo deck will rise 23 meters above the sea level, and a flare arrow will go up to a height of 64.5 meters.
The world shipbuilding industry has several international quality standards. The customer is free to choose any of the universally recognized international standards. The new platform is made in accordance with German Lloyd, the highest level of standard.
According to Alexander Ilyichev, the Director of "Red Barricades", about fifty companies from twenty countries were involved in fulfillment of the two major orders apart from Astrakhan shipbuilders.
Another important contract will be signed in the coming days. The contract is aimed to significantly expand the technical arsenal of oil workers in the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea. The "Turkmendenizderyaellary (Turkmen sea and river ways) department will sign a contract worth US $ 31 million with another giant of Russian shipbuilding - Nizhny Novgorod's plant "Krasnoye Sormovo". In the near future, two new "river-sea" ships with the capacity of 7 tons, designed for transportation of oil, will also head for the coast of Turkmenistan.
