The new maintenance center of the Ministry of water management of Turkmenistan will service over 200 units of Caterpillar, Komatsu and Case machinery annually.
As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, according to a decree by Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov, Turkmenistan's largest maintenance center worth some US $ 2 mln was designed by Ashgabattaslama Institute on the orders and at the expense of the water management ministry. The center was build and equipped by Turkish company Shahin.
The new economic structure with a total area of over 2 hectares is situated next to the maintenance and training center of Zeppelin Turkmenistan, the dealer of the US Caterpillar company in Turkmenistan.
The center consists of repair workshop facilities, which can service up to 4 units of machinery at a time, storehouses and an administrative building. There are also a transformer sub-station and an underground pumping station with water reservoirs for technical needs and firefighting.
The center employs over 50 people. A two-storey administrative building is connected with the repair workshops by a passage. There are office-rooms, a meeting room, a first-aid room and refectory in the administrative building.
Today, the Ministry of water management's machinery fleet accounts for over 700 units of excavators, bulldozers and other special equipment from world leading producers. Some 150 more Caterpillar and Komatsu machines with a warranty service at the sub-stations of the producers are expected soon. Now, customers of the imported machinery will be provided with after-warranty period service on the ground. This summer, maintenance centers of Komatsu were opened in Mary and Balkanabat. Maintenance centers in Dashoguz and Turkmenabat will be commissioned in few months.
Besides, Russian Kamaz maintenance center is expected to be built in Ashgabat in 2007.
