As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, on the instructions of Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov Chairman of the Turkmen parliament Ovezgeldy Atayev received credentials from the Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana, Edward Apau Mantey, yesterday.
According to the State news agency (TDH), the chairman of the national parliament congratulated the Ghanaian ambassador on behalf of the president of Turkmenistan on his appointment and wished him successes in strengthening friendship and further developing the productive cooperation between two countries.
The parliament speaker briefed the guest on the basic principles and areas of domestic and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, in particular on its founding doctrine of neutrality which opens great prospects for mutually equal and beneficial interstate cooperation.
In turn, the Ghanaian ambassador said that his country greatly appreciates the peace loving policy of Turkmenistan for maintaining stability and sustainable development in the world and that it fully agrees with the position of peaceful resolution of any conflicts and disputes only through negotiations.
During the meeting the sides expressed common desire to intensify the bilateral interstate cooperation.
