Ashgabat once again declares its adherence to the policy of one China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in a statement for press today.

"Turkmenistan actively exercises policy aimed at consistent development of friendly and good-neighbourly relations with all countries of the world. One of the brightest examples of such successful and fruitful partnership are Turkmen-Chinese relations, which are based on mutually advantageous and multifaceted cooperation as well as mutual understanding on international policy issues, including the territorial integrity of China. In this connection, Turkmenistan once again declares its adherence to the policy of One China," the statement said.

As the statement notes, "Turkmenistan confirms that the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China."

"In this context, Turkmenistan supports the efforts the Chinese government is making for the peaceful reunification of the country," the foreign ministry's statement emphasized.
