Turkmenistan celebrates State Flag Day and President's birthday |
On February 19, Turkmenistan celebrates State Flag Day and the birthday of the first and permanent President of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov.
As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, the festive events began yesterday. In the first half of the day, equestrian performance and horse races were held in the state hippodrome and a gala concert of Turkmenistan's masters of art and artists from Turkey and Russia was held in Ruhiet Palace in the evening. In particular, the concert spectators were really happy to listen to famous Russian singer Diana Gurtskaya performing in Turkmen language the song about mother written by Saparmurat Niyazov and songs sang by popular Turkish singers Tugche Bejerekli and Melihe Guney dedicated to the Turkmen leader.
In the evening, an official dinner was given on behalf of the head of state in honor of the national holiday.
Today, the festivities continued in Olympic stadium where a theatrical performance took place. In the evening, the skies over Ashgabat will lit up by festive fireworks.
