Turkmen and Uzbek people are "simply doomed to be reliable partners and good friends," said President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. He took part in the festival of Turkmen-Uzbek friendship in Dashoguz province as part of his official visit to Turkmenistan. In his view, this truth is confirmed by "the entire course of historical development and current status of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership." The President of Uzbekistan also noted that the Turkmen diaspora makes a worthy contribution to the development and strengthening of economic potential and independence of Uzbekistan.
"The relations between our two peoples, who were fed by one river and who remain centuries-old close neighbors, are currently being taken to a new level," said in turn President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, welcoming the guests and participants of the festival.
