Russian President Dmitry Medvedev begins a two-day working visit to Turkmenistan at the invitation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This is the fourth visit of President Dmitry Medvedev to Turkmenistan, the press service of the Russian President said.
The meeting of heads of two states will be held in the seaside town of Turkmenbashi. During the high-level talks, the sides are expected to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues, including the energy sphere, agriculture, transport and telecommunications sectors, as well as prospects for expansion of industrial cooperation and supply of engineering products. Much attention will be paid to economic and trade cooperation.
It is also planned to substantively discuss the issues of interaction within the CIS and the SCO, to exchange views on topical regional and international issues, including the situation in Afghanistan and Central Asia.
According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), a regular meeting of the heads of Turkmenistan and Russia is "designed to give new incentives for the intergovernmental dialogue based on longstanding traditions of friendship and good neighborliness."
