At a regular government meeting, the Vice-Premier of the Turkmen government, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov reported on preparations for the visit to Turkmenistan of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev.
At the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of further intensifying the Turkmen-Russian dialogue. He also emphasized the need for "taking the interstate relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation to the next level, corresponding to modern realities and opportunities for mutually productive cooperation."
According to the president, along with great prospects of partnership in trade and economic sphere and the oil and gas sector, which are strategic for both countries, strengthening relations in the spheres of education, science and culture, tourism and sports is of particular importance.
Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Ashgabat will take place on October 21-22 this year.
