The first meeting of the Turkmen-British trade and industry council took place at "President" hotel in Ashgabat. The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and the UK businessmen. The British delegation, headed by Ronald Nash, included representatives of Shell, Gaffney, Cline & Associates, De La Rue, Rolls-Royce, WYG International, Worley Parsons, BSP International Foundation Ltd., British Petroleum, JCB and others.
During the meeting, British businessmen stressed their strong interest in joining the investment projects to transport Turkmen gas to the European market and, in particular, the UK, the press release says.
The head of the UK delegation, co-chairman of the Turkmen-British trade and industry council, Ronald Nash was received by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Turkmen leader spoke in favor of using technologies and expertise of British companies in projects on modernization of the oil and gas industry infrastructure and diversification of export routes for Turkmen energy resources to world markets.
In addition, the head of state stressed the importance of British companies' participation in raising the skills of national specialists and training them to operate latest technologies. He underlined the need for monitoring of development of cooperation.
The sides agreed to hold meetings of the Turkmen-British Council every six months in Ashgabat and London in turn.
