The Exhibition Centre of Fine Arts has moved to a refurbished building of the former National Museum of Turkmen Carpet located in Gerogly Street in Ashgabat. The inauguration ceremony was held on October 1.
The first floor of the exhibition center presents works by famous Turkmen painters of the older generation - A. Hajiyev, I. Klychev, J. Annanurov, N. Dovodov, E. Adamova, A. Akyev, A. Amangeldyev, D. Bayramov, A. Kuliev, C. Babikov, well-known ceramic artists, as well as original compositions in metal, ceramics, tapestries. The second floor features works by artists of new trends in contemporary art.
As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports, a room of sculptures under the code name "Apple" is central in the exhibition center. Its main exhibit is a fifteen meter composition by the people's artist of Turkmenistan, Babasary Annamuradov. The sculpture represents a huge apple with gazing up leaves standing on the white stool and the apple's small copy in the bottom. The light penetrating through the huge colorful mosaic stained-glasses creates an atmosphere that allows visitors to take a different look at the works exhibited there, the TDH says.
