Afghanistan will be able to ensure safety of the region largest economic project - TAPI gas pipeline running from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan to India, RIA Novosti reported referring to Minister of Mines and Mining of Afghanistan Vahidulla Shahrani.
According to Shahrani, "the part of the pipeline passing through the territory controlled by Taliban militants will be buried in the ground and local communities will be paid money to protect it."
"This ambitious project is very important for Afghanistan. We will be receiving hundreds of millions of dollars for the transit of gas annually and will have enormous opportunities for creating new jobs, both during the construction of the pipeline and after putting it into operation," the minister said.
According to the Minister, Afghans living in the settlements located near the pipeline will be fully provided with gas.
