Turkmenistan proposes to start developing a unified concept of security within the UN. Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said about this in an interview for the Turkmen media on the eve of his departure to New York.
The President expressed confidence that security of one country cannot be ensured without security in the region, continent and the world. "The political or military security cannot be lasting and full without ensuring economic, energy, food security, without warning and preventing risks and threats of environmental and man-made nature, without effective actions against terrorism, drug trafficking, international crime," he said.
"The issues of regional cooperation such as disarmament, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, combating terrorism, illicit drug trafficking are among the priorities of particular importance for us. Assisting to resolve the situation in Afghanistan is another issue," the president said.
