Speaking at the 10th summit of Turkic-speaking countries, which was held on 16 September in Istanbul, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to hold an international conference of artists and creative people of Turkic-speaking countries in Turkmenistan in 2011under the auspices of the International Organization of Turkish Culture "TURKSOY".
The Turkmen leader called for establishment of fruitful humanitarian contacts, direct communication and exchange of experiences among leading scientific centers and universities of Turkic-speaking countries. "Joint research work, introduction of the most modern and high technologies and inventions deserve our full support," he said.
During the summit, presidents of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey also agreed to establish the Fund of the common cultural heritage of the Turks in Baku, a museum and library at the Turkic Academy in Astana. They also agreed to expand cooperation under the auspices of the Inter-University Union and jointly celebrate the 20th anniversary of independence of Turkic-speaking countries of the CIS next year. The leaders also decided to mark the Day of Cooperation of Turkic-speaking countries on October 3.
