Bishop of Smolensk and Vyazemsk Feofilak, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Turkmenistan met with the first Vice-Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on September 9.
As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports quoting the press service of the Smolensk Diocese of the ROC, the bishop conveyed greetings and good wishes of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill to the President and people of Turkmenistan. During the meeting, the bishop spoke about life of the orthodox parishes in Turkmenistan, their educational and social activities. There were also raised and discussed issues of humanitarian service of the Russian Orthodox Church in the country.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Rashid Meredov expressed gratitude to Patriarch Cyril for his care for the Orthodox citizens of Turkmenistan and for the Pontiff's appreciation of efforts of the President of Turkmenistan to strengthen the spiritual and moral foundations of the state.
Among the decisions adopted at the meeting was an agreement on regular meetings of the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in Turkmenistan with the leadership of the country designed to help solve common problems to the benefit and prosperity of Turkmenistan.
