The management and experts of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan together with experts of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development discussed issues related to improvement of equipment and further modernization of the Turkmenbashi sea port on July 22.
According to the official report, they identified the first priority tasks such as the construction of a container terminal, bulk and general cargo terminal with digital order processing, ship repair and building complex, passenger station with a bus stop and control tower for the dispatcher services of the port. The list of tasks also includes the construction of an advanced category road, supply bases, multi-purpose service station of water rescue and rapid response to carbon emissions in places of their production.
EBRD experts together with the employees of the water transport sector of Turkmenistan reviewed options for phased reconstruction of the existing ferry terminal at the port and expansion of cargo complex for polypropylene handling. The project on the port modernization also provides for construction of social facilities - a yacht club and a water theme park at the children boulevard of the seaside town.
