The Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO), Zsuzsanna Jakab, paid a visit to Turkmenistan. During the visit, she met with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and attended the opening ceremony of the international conference and exhibition dedicated to the achievements of Turkmenistan's health care system, and visited a number of international medical centers that were built in Ashgabat during the years of independence.
As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports quoting the press service of the head of state, Zsuzsanna Jakab cordially congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the state program "Saglyk" ("Health"), who was one of the main designers of the program given the fact that he led the national health system for many years.
The Director of EuroWHO noted the impressive progress made in recent years by Turkmenistan, including the achievements in the field of immunization and spa treatment, construction of modern medical centers. According to her, the World Health Organization warmly welcomes and supports all initiatives of the Turkmen leader and, for their part, is ready to continue to provide the most effective support to ongoing reforms in the country, covering the areas of mutual interest.
