The Interstate Coordination Water Commission (ICWC) will hold a meeting in Ashgabat. The commission consists of heads of water departments of Central Asian states - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Vice-Premiere Myratgeldi Akmammedov reported on preparations for this meeting at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on 12 March. He also reported on preparations for the international forum "A Drop of Water - A Grain of Gold" and exhibition dedicated to the world experience and advanced technologies in the efficient use of water resources scheduled for April 2-4.
As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) said, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of the upcoming events for the further development of constructive international cooperation and issued instructions to organize them at a high level.
It should be recalled that the Interstate Coordination Water Commission was established in 1992. Represented jointly by five ministers of water management, the ICWC oversees management and development of water resources, sustainability of natural and hydro processes on transboundary waters in the region of Central Asia.
