On October 27, Turkmenistan marks the main national holiday - Independence Day. By tradition, the day began with a flower-laying ceremony at the Monument of Independence, which was attended by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
A military parade and festive parade of workers started at 10 a.m. on the central square of Ashgabat. It was broadcast live on the national television.
The parade was opened by young drummers - students of the military schools under the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan. Then, representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces of the country marched past the square. They were motorized infantry, paratroopers, pilots, air defense units of soldiers, sailors, marines, the border guards. Among the parade participants there were also cadets of the Military Institute, Military Academy of Turkmenistan, as well as officers of the Ministry of Interior and the Police Academy cadets.
Modern military equipment adopted the National Army passed the stands in the square. Columns of latest tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, self-propelled guns, anti-aircraft missile systems, rocket launchers, anti-tank batteries, air defense systems followed.
The "air parade" was performed by groups of combat helicopters MI-8 and Mi-24, attack aircraft squadrons Su-25 and the supersonic MiG-29 fighters piloted by Turkmen pilots.
The parade, which was inspected by the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Army General Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, wrapped up with performances of a separate battalion of guards of honor and combined military orchestra.
The parade of workers of Turkmenistan was preceded by the dance performance of graceful Akhal-Teke horses. Accompanied by artists two Akhal-Teke horses performed the ancient Turkmen dance Kushtdepdi.
