Turkmenistan and Spain interested in boosting bilateral relations
On October 5, on the instruction of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Speaker of the National Parliament Akja Nurberdieva accepted credentials of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to Turkmenistan Mr. Juan Antonio Marc Pujol.

During the meeting, the sides expressed interest in strengthening and enhancing bilateral relations. The sides also noted the existence of a meaningful potential for cooperation. The speaker of the Mejlis and the diplomat called for further expansion of mutually beneficial partnership - both bilaterally and multilaterally, especially within the EU, where Spain will preside in January 2010. The importance of cooperation within the UN was also emphasized.

According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), the sides identified trade and economic, fuel and energy, construction and humanitarian spheres as the priority areas of cooperation. The ambassador also noted willingness of leading Spanish companies to win a foothold in the promising Turkmen market and actively participate in joint projects.
