Intergovernmental Turkmen-Georgian commission agrees on priority areas of partnership
Following the first meeting of the Turkmen-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held on 13 July in Ashgabat, the sides signed a protocol regulating the priority areas for inter-state partnership at the current stage.

The Georgian side was represented by a high-rank delegation headed by Prime Minister Nika Gilauri. The delegation of Turkmenistan included heads and senior specialists from a number of line ministries and departments led by deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nazarguly Shagulyevy.

During the meeting, the sides discussed possibilities of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, in the fuel and energy sector, transport and agriculture, as well as in sports and tourism. Particular attention was paid to the improvement of the legal framework of Turkmen-Georgian relations. The meeting also considered the possibility of establishing direct flights between Tbilisi and Ashgabat.

The second meeting of the Turkmen-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation is scheduled for 2010 in Tbilisi.
