The first national female football tournament began in Turkmenistan on 21 March. Six teams are competing in the tournament - Kopetdag (Ashgabat), Asia (Abadan), Yyldyz (Dashoguz), Sport (Ashgabat), Mary (Mary) and Lebap (Turkmenabat). The tournament was organized by the Football Federation and the State Sport Committee on Tourism and Sport on the occasion of Nowruz spring holiday, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat.

Teams were split in two groups. The group winners will play in the final. The group second teams will play in the bronze match. The final match will be held on 25 March. On results of the tournament, a national female team of Turkmenistan will be formed for international competitions.

Kopetdag crushed Yyldyz 12:0 in the opening match. Lebap beat Mary 2:1 on the same day.
