Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held talks in Ashgabat on 28 November. The sides agreed to strengthen partnership in the spheres of power engineering, transport, economy and education, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat. Four documents were signed on the result of talks between the two countries.
"Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, who are rich in hydrocarbons, share a common position on the policy of diversification of exports of energy resources to the world markets," Berdimuhamedov said at a press conference. Speaking of the Caspian Sea energy resources, the leader of Turkmenistan noted that "there is a shared view on the issue of prospecting, developing, processing and sale of this strategic raw material." The ministries of transportation of the two countries signed an agreement on establishing a train ferry link between the ports of Turkmenbashi and Baku as well as on cargo shipments between them. The sides also signed an agreement on cooperation between the ministries of education of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan and an intergovernmental agreement on the Turkmen-Azerbaijani commission for economic cooperation. | |||
