Turkmenistan celebrates Day of Ruhnama nationwide on 12 September 2008. This year marks the seventh anniversary of the philosophical work by the first president of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the people of Turkmenistan on this remarkable occasion. According to the head of state, Saparmurat Niyazov's book "has taken a worthy place in Turkmen society." "The book looks at imperishable values of the entire humankind. The services of the holy Ruhnama are great. Ruhnama is the source of knowledge and fount of spiritual principles of the nation that is committed to ideals of peace and friendship, mutual understanding and accord between peoples of the globe in the Golden Age," the message says.

Mentioning the high significance of Ruhnama in the era of new Renaissance, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said this book is "a reliable means of raising up a new generation in the spirit of a great pattern of patriotism, morality and heroism."
