Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visiting Beijing on the invitation of Chinese leadership, has met with President Hu Jintao of the People’s Republic of China and leaders of some CIS states, August 9.

In the morning, the Turkmen leader came to the All-China People’s Assembly Palace where the Turkmen-Chinese summit took place. According to the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH), the meeting was held in the format of a business breakfast. The Turkmen and Chinese leaders sat side-by-side. The presidents of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia also attended the meeting.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Hu Jintao for the pleasure that he received from the opening ceremony of the XXIX Olympic Games. Touching upon the interstate cooperation development and prospects, the sides confirmed mutual commitment to the further expansion of the partnership.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reiterated his invitation to Hu Jintao to pay a visit to Turkmenistan. According to the preliminary agreement of sides, the Chinese leader’s visit to Turkmenistan is planned for late August.

In the evening of August 9, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov returned to Ashgabat.
