Turkmenistan to develop complex programme to provide Turkmen citizens with domestic food
The President of Turkmenistan instructed vice prime ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov and Hojamuhammet Muhammedov to develop a programme aimed at providing the country's residents with high-quality and wide variety of domestic food products at a government meeting dedicated to the further expansion of the national food market.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered that a draft resolution on this be prepared before the government's next meeting on the outcomes of the first half-year, the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) reports.

The president also instructed relevant officials to allocate plots of land in every region for construction of greenhouses to grow vegetables, fruits, melons and gourds; to reconstruct technologically obsolete facilities and construct new plants; to gradually substitute imported foodstuffs with domestic products; to ensure strict control over sanitary conditions at all plants of food industry, trade and public catering facilities without exception.

Besides, the head of state instructed relevant state organizations to make an assessment of the situation in the livestock industry, market trends for the price of meet products and to work out a set of efficient measures to provide Turkmen citizens with high-quality meat and milk products.
