The delegations of Turkmenistan and
Lithuania signed a memorandum of understanding between the government of Turkmenistan and the government of
Lithuania on results of talks in Ashgabat on April 23. The talks between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and
Lithuanian prime minister Gediminas Kirkilas who arrived in Ashgabat at the head of
Lithuania's government delegation were held on the same day.
Cooperation in the fuel and energy sphere was the main topic of the talks, the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) said. Transportation, tourism, trade and advanced technologies were also highlighted as possible areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. The president of Turkmenistan and the prime minister of
Lithuania spoke in favor of developing cooperation in the humanitarian sphere as well, including cultural exchanges and joint participation in festivals, exhibitions and forums.
The guest has conveyed to the Turkmen leader the
Lithuanian president Valdas Adamkus's invitation to pay an official visit to Vilnius.
