EU Troika to meet Central Asia's foreign ministers in Ashgabat
A meeting between the European Union's Troika and Central Asia's foreign ministers will be held in the Turkmen capital today. The EU delegation consists of the current President of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council, Slovenian foreign minister Dimitrij Rupel; EU Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner; EU Special Envoy for Central Asia Pierre Morel; and French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner (the next Presidency country). It is expected that Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will received the top-rank delegation.

The meeting will focus on the implementation of EU's new strategy for Central Asia as well as regional cooperation in the sphere of education, legal norms, economy, trade, energy and environment. Common threats and challenges, including border management and the fight against drug trafficking, will also be discussed, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat quoting official sources.

A number of bilateral meetings between the EU Troika and Central Asian delegations will be held as part of the talks. Foreign delegations will also attend the opening ceremony of the House of Europe office in Turkmenistan accommodated in the Mizan business center.
